Note: I do not own this bike anymore. I never was a mechanic. Contact Speed and Sport in Penn. about parts if you need them. Please don't contact me.

(May 2001) Well, I've spent a year chugging around on my 500 and really enjoy it. My goal was 500 miles per month and I hit the 6000 mile mark almost to the day of the one year anniversary of when I purchased the Yamaha. I've learned a lot about riding and have decided to get a larger bike for my wife and I to ride 2up. This page has some pictures from 2000 that I think you might enjoy, and I have written a few stories about my experiences as a 47 year old newbie. Between cycle rides I'm a Technology Coordinator for a public school system in Kansas.

I started in early April of 2000 by buying a bike because someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse. After putting 800 miles on the Honda CL360, most of them highway, in three weeks, I felt I needed a little more bike in this Kansas wind, (on the same small budget.) I came across this 1974 twin.

A great old bike, a cruiser of it's day, the Yamaha TX500A is a joy to ride. Enjoy my pictures and read about my adventures as a beginning rider. If you are looking for someone to ride with, give me a call. Karl
